Getting accustomed to Mexico customs - Podcast Episode 37

Written by Kevin Baxter | Jun 12, 2024

Customs tends to be among the most common questions or worries among shippers moving - or considering moving - freight cross-border between the U.S. and Mexico. On this episode of InTek Freight & Logistics: The Podcast, the Mexican customs process takes center stage with Vitti Logistics Managing Director Antonio Luna.

Antonio takes us through the documentation needed for a smooth shipment, the most common - and often simple - mistakes that can cause delays, special freight that requires extra steps, the emergence of intermodal as a better option for many shippers and the construction taking place throughout the country related to nearshoring.

He also explains how the customs process can be much easier with the right support and how the language barrier doesn't need to scare companies off. Plus, he reminds how handling customs correctly impacts federal taxes in Mexico.
