InTek Freight & Logistics President Shelli Austin will serve as the Chair of the Intermodal Association of North America (IANA) in 2023. The Board elected Austin, the current Vice-Chair, to a one-year term that begins in January. She'll lead the Board after serving as a member of IANA more than half a decade.
"I'm grateful to be chosen by my fellow Board members to take on this leadership position," said Austin. "I look forward to continuing to work with the Board and IANA staff to further enhance our role as the connecting force for intermodal freight."
Austin's fellow IANA officers for 2023 will be Vice-Chair Tom Williams, Group Vice President, Consumer Products Business Group with BNSF Railway, and Treasurer Trevor Ash, CEO of CIE Manufacturing, Inc. She succeeds current Chair, Dr. Noel Hacegaba, Deputy Executive Director of the Port of Long Beach.
The Board is made up of two members each representing five divisions: the 3PL (third party logistics) Division, the Marine Division, the Motor Carrier Division, the Rail Division and the Supplier Division, with an additional three At-Large Directors.
Austin co-founded what is now InTek with CEO Rick LaGore in 2003, purchasing the company together in 2016. She has previously served on the Transportation Intermediaries Association board as well, and was recently honored as a winner of Supply & Demand Chain Executive's Women in Supply Chain award.
IANA’s roster of corporate members includes railroads, ocean carriers, ports, intermodal truckers and over-the-road highway carriers, intermodal marketing and logistic companies, and suppliers to the industry. This roster gives IANA a unique position within the intermodal community, one which is authoritative, holistic and able to affect change that benefits everyone. IANA consistently supports the shared needs, interests, and goals of its diverse members – regardless of mode or function – with business solutions, education, and networking opportunities.
